1. Back to Basics with MapViewer: Creating Maps with Authoritative Data

In this workshop you will learn about the wealth of data and information available through ArcGIS Online. Specifically, you will learn how to navigate ArcGIS Online and data resources to ensure you find relevant, trusted and accurate data sets to work with. You will learn tips on finding relevant data for student assignments and projects.

2. Making Sense of the World Through Data

In this workshop you will learn how to create a collaborative field study using Survey123, an app for conducting surveys within Esri’s ArcGIS Online software. With Survey123, students can create interactive field surveys that collection of data using a preferred device in any location. A survey is a great way to gather primary data on a community’s people and environment. You will also learn how to communicate the survey results using Esri’s interactive tools.

3. Taking Story Maps to the Next Level

Jean Tong

This workshop goes beyond the standard text and multimedia blocks of ArcGIS Online Story Maps to explore the many advanced tools in the Story Map builder. You will learn about new Story Map functionality and use immersive builders to create a highly customizable resource.

Requirements

All K-12 sessions are suitable for both beginners and advanced users of ArcGIS. You will need:

• Your own Device: Chromebook, laptop, or tablet with the following software installed/licensed:
  • ArcGIS Online education account – you can request one at K12.esri.ca
  • Chrome or Firefox Internet browser
• A charging cable for your device

ArcGIS Online et l’internet nous donnent accès à une foule d’information et de données! Cette séance nous permettra d’explorer plusieurs façons de trouver des données de qualité pour vos projets cartographiques. Où les trouver? Comment les ajouter une carte? Comment évaluer leur qualité?

2. Comment transformer ses questions en données cartographiées ?

Cet atelier pratique vous permettra de créer un projet où vous collecterez vos propres données grâce à Survey123! Vous rédigerez vos questions et vous partagerez votre formulaire afin de collecter des données. Avec Survey123, vos élèves pourront collecter des informations à propos de leur environnement et au sujet de phénomènes locaux ou mondiaux. Les élèves pourront aussi mener des sondages auprès de leur famille, de leurs ami·e·s ou encore, auprès de membres de la communauté. Vous apprendrez aussi comment partager vos résultats en utilisant les différents outils interactif d’Esri.

3. Aller encore plus loin avec ses cartes narratives

Comment rendre nos récits plus stimulants et dynamiques? Nous pouvons aller au-delà des blocs de texte et de contenu multimédia! Dans cette séance, nous apprendrons à rendre nos cartes narratives plus attrayantes et interactives grâce à des fonctionnalités simples mais efficaces.

Prérequis :

Les séances conviennent autant aux débutant·e·s qu’aux utilisateur·rice·s d’expérience. Pour participer, il faut :

• Avoir son propre appareil : Chromebook, ordinateur portable ou tablette avec les logiciels suivants d’installés/d’activés :
  • Un compte ArcGIS Online pour l’éducation – Obtenez–en un ici : k12.esri.ca/fr/
  • Un navigateur web Chrome

In this workshop, you will learn about the wealth of data and information available through ArcGIS. We will also explore various apps available to you through ArcGIS and how these can support your various tasks, including demographic analysis, student enrollment and development tracking.

How School Boards use GIS for planning

In this session, you will hear from fellow school board planners on how they use GIS in their workflows and tasks. In addition, there will be an opportunity to discuss the support needed for school board planners to initiate and use GIS in more aspects of their work.
